Just seven kilometres from the bustle of Sydney's CBD, Mascot is occasionally overlooked by passing tourists but it does have its own attractions. Captain Cook's first encounter was in Botany Bay, and that in itself makes this area popular with surfers and swimmers. Mascot, Sydney, NSW is awash with beaches, parks, rivers and shopping outlets that entice first-time visitors back again. The area is a filled with great places to stay, from low-cost backpacker lodgings, to cheap hotels or more upmarket places to spend a holiday. Last-minute accommodation is available but to avoid disappointment, booking in advance is recommended.
