Byron Bay is the easternmost point of the Australian mainland located on the north coast of NSW, just south of Queensland's Gold Coast. With a population of less than 10,000, it is one of Austalia's tourist hot spots. Traditionally Byron Bay was the principle domain of backpackers and surfers. But in recent year, the town's scenic location has attracted visitors from across Australia and around the world. Byron Bay is well-known for it's laid-back alternate lifestyle and perfect weather all year around. 

The Cape Byron Lighthouse, which was built in 1901, juts out into the Pacific Ocean at the easternmost point of the mainland. It’s worth taking a stroll out to the Byron Bay Lighthouse to catch the first sunrise. You can continue walking down the paths to explore the amazing beaches in the area. Main Beach is the most popular beach – where you can enjoy long days in the sun. Nearby Watego's Beach is popular with surfers who take advantage of its small swell and less crowded breaks. 

There are an array of activities to enjoy from the numerous walking trails to kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing to the more adventurous hang-gliding, hot air ballooning or skydiving. Byron Bay is also one of the only places in Australia you can do whale-watchingfor free. During the whale season climb the headland to the lighthouse to see these spectacular animals migrating along the coastline.

In town, discover the amazing array of shops and cafes run by the locals. For the health conscious, there are organic, vegan and gourmet delicacies that waiting to be tasted. Byron Bay also has a growing nightlife with some great bars and nightclubs for those looking to party.
